dr_kou's Full Review: Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII for PlayStation...
Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 is in the first line, A step down from 7.
The battle system is quite dumbed down from the last one, With skills (IE: Charge and Trample) not adding much to the battles other then being able to do mass amount of damage.
Now there is nothing wrong with the battle system, If you get the right music or fight it can be very interesting. There are no more inside/on the castle fights. You break open the front door, You win. Which is kind of crappy since I remember in RotK 4 (Which battle system shares many simliarities to 8) where you had the option wether to settle the battle via duel or a army battle (for lack of tiredness to find a better word) when you smashed open the front door.
This alone dosn't drag this game down though, It's still the same old Romance. Just with one huge excellent new feature (Along with alliances (Well, Blood Brother) with other officers). In this Romance you're able to start out as a basic nobody officer and work up your fame, pay and rank to become the ruler (Well, You cannot be promoted to ruler, You must either coup the current ruler or band off and start your own group after amassing a good amount of fame)
Now where some people find this meh since there used to playing as Cao Cao and the other rulers of China, I find this one of the games shining strenghts. Because for created officer you can start up as nobody, As one would be in that time.
Other then that and some other things 8 is basically just 7 with more polish, A solid 4 out of 5.
Near the year 184 A.D., China was reaching the end of the Han dynasty. The corruption of the Imperial Court triggered a rebellion, and civil war engul...More at eBay
