Pros:Beautiful light floral fragrance with a hint of spiciness and fruitiness.
Cons:Tall skinny bottle tips over easily, resulting in the lid on my bottle to break.
The Bottom Line: Great fragrance for spring and summertime. Subtle enough for work, yet truly a sophisticated fragrance that would make it appropriate for evening as well.
Spring has returned to California, or at least for a short time, and on beautiful sunny days like today I like to wear another one of my lighter fragrances, Salvatore Ferragamo Eau de Parfum Spray.
This light but vibrant fragrance is distinctly floral, with just enough fruity and spicy notes to make it sophisticated and exotic. Its initial top notes emphasize fresh floral essences: aniseed, neroli and cassis absolute, and green leaves. Its sweet floral middle notes include iris, rose, and peony essence, along with lily of the valley, contrasted with spicy notes of nutmeg and pepper. Completing the olfactive pyramid of this sensual fragrance are base notes of raspberry, exotic woods, sweet almonds, and musk.
I received this fragrance several years ago as a birthday gift from my husband. My birthday is in the spring so this was a perfect gift for the season. I was still working at the time and found it was an excellent fragrance to wear to work as it is light and does have not have the heavy musky scent or spicy, oriental emphasis of some heavier scents. I have received many compliments on Salvatore Ferragamo, including several male co-workers who wanted to find out so they could get it for their wives or girlfriends.
Salvatore Ferragamo Eau de Parfum 1.7 oz. Spray comes in a tall, skinny, clear glass bottle with a slight twist and the Salvatore Ferragamo embossed signature on the side, and silver pull-off lid--a very unique looking bottle. While it is nice to look at on my perfume tray, it is somewhat unpractical in that it is easy to knock over (and thereby knocking all my other bottles over!). The lid and decorative cover on my bottle actually broke due to this, but the sprayer still works. However, that is my only complaint about this fragrance. Since it is light in color, it doesn't stain my clothes. The bottle is also easy to hold and sprays easily. It lasts most of the day, although you would need a reapplication if going out at night.
This fragrance, which debuted in 1998, was the winner of "Best Female Fragrance" by the Italian Academy of Parfum in 1999.
Final Thoughts
Like the shoes of Salvatore Ferragamo, this parfum makes a statement in his philosophy of detail. It is not simply a light floral fragrance, but one with subtle contrasting fruity and spicy notes. It is an excellent fragrance for work as it not overpowering, but at the same time, it is sophisticated enough to wear into the evening, making it a very versatile fragrance. While I love to wear this during the warmer months, I do on occasion like to wear it during the colder, gloomier days of winter to bring the feeling of spring and summer into my life. This fragrance is also a very modern fragrance, one that should appeal to younger women as well.
