I really like this camera for picture quality and ease of use. However, I've experienced some of the same problems mentioned by others -- the camera randomly shuts off at times and can be nearly impossible to turn back on. Sometimes toggling the power switch multiple times will do it. It eats batteries like popcorn (though I find battery life is better with rechargables instead of the Energizer alkalines I was using).
The shut-off problem has happened on TWO of these cameras -- mine and my husband's, so I know it wasn't just a fluke. Though we bought ours at the same time, I have a hundred times the usage on mine (he's a bit of a techno-phobe) yet with very little use, his camera began doing the same thing.
It does have a long shutter lag, but that may not be any different than other digital cameras in this price range. I can't say for sure because this is the only camera I've had experience with but I do hear the same complaints from other people about their cameras (The Wall Street Journal even did a whole article about this problem so I think it's universal).
If not for these problems, I could heartily recommend this camera as everything else about it is great.
