| aero4eva's Full Review: Samsung SyncMaster 172 T 17 inch LCD Monitor |
I'd been holding off on buying an LCD, waiting for the price/quality ratio to get to a more comfortable place. I found myself replacing an old PC and decided it was time. I did a lot of research through popular PC magazines, etc. I ended up with what one PC magazine touted as "The Monitor of the Year", the Samsung Syncmaster 172T. It has the DVI connection which I took full advantage of by having a graphics card with DVI out included in my new PC. I have not been disappointed to say the least.
Set up was a breeze. And once up and running this monitor lived up to every great review I had read about it. It shines with both text and graphics. It takes up a fraction of the space my smaller screened CRT did, not to mention the energy savings. And it's true, LCD is easier on the eyes. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that even though it's recommended to run at it's native resolution (which was a bit small for me viewing wise) there was an advanced setting which made everything a bit larger while maintaining that native resolution of 1280x1024.
As stated the only "con" was the price. It was on the high side and admittedly a bit of a stretch for me to make. Unfortunately in this day and age "You get what you pay for" doesn't always hold true. But in the case of the 172T, you do indeed get what you pay for...top quality.
