Great TV. Fixes some problems of past models.

I'm not an audio- or videophile, and might not use the same criteria as some of you. However the picture and sound on this TV are incredible. The built in subwoofer really punches up the sound. And it's not just the fact that it is the biggest TV that will fit in my entertainment armoire.

This model was released in the first half of January, 2004. It fixes the major flaw of last year's model, the TXM3298HF. The new model remembers your setting when you turn the TV off. (How did that make into production?)
While the television sports many image enhancement features and viewing presets, I found the basic setting produces a great picture. Samsung's video voodoo DNIe image enhancement image does a nice job of cleaning up signals, but has a very subtle side-effect of making low-contrast details swim after high-contrast ones; if somebody jiggles their head, their eyes and mouth move slightly faster than the wrinkles in their forehead. My wife can't see it, no matter how much I point it out, so it's not huge.
The TV can do virtual surround sound by pumping out sound through the subwoofer, but I prefer having some bass to my audio. On the back of the TV, the internal subwoofer is plugged into an output, so you could route the bass audio out to an external subwoofer, were you so inclined.
The TV automatically upgrades incoming signals, and does a good job. I can't tell any difference when I turn on progressive scan on my DVD player. Not a complaint, just the tv doing a good job.
Low-quality inputs (single rca cable video, coax, and antenna) are chosen from one button, while high-quality (component, s-video, and digital) are chosen from another. This is good and bad.
Rather than sort through all available inputs, it does shorten the list. If all of your inputs are high quality, it won't be annoying. For those with mixed sources, this means switch to hq stuff means pressing one button twice, then switching to a lq input might take 4 button pushes. Get a remote that can do macros if this applies to you.
While it's not a problem for me, the s-video input is still on the side. So if you're trying to fit this in a tight space and use s-video, it's going to add (insert length of your s-video plugs) to the 33 inch footprint of the TV.
You most likely won't find this TV at a store near you. While you might be tempted to go with the cheapest deal, look at shipping. I bought mine from Crutchfield, which was higher priced; but shipping was only $29 and I didn't have to pay tax. So it ended up being cheaper than places claiming they were selling it for $200 less. Plus, you go through Crutchfield for support.
