Sandisk 1GB MP3 Player CAN be fixed!

Pros: very good sound quolity, lots of features, long battery life, UPGRADEABLE firmware!

Cons: next to none. stock earphones are uncomfortable. menu is a little complicated but very rich.

The crackling sound problem described in many of the previous reviews can be easily fixed. I just did it.
Just go to the sandisk website, find the mp3 player page, go to the firmware link and read the instructions.
Download the new firmware version 1.02 (jan 2005) and be amazed by the quality of this thing. No crackling sound what so ever (btw it was only on mp3 128 kbps, 192kbps did not have that problem). So, you don't have to convert to WMA anymore!!!! :)
Get a good pair of earphones (Sennheiser PX60 are the best for 25 bucks at target) cuz the originals are not comfortable and fall out too easily.
