Gone are the days of toting around CDs and a CD player. This attractive mp3 player by Sandisk does everything I need from a digital audio player. Sounds great, good battery life, compact, and the price is right. I was thinking of getting an iRiver, but after researching on the web decided this would fill the bill for half the price. (You can find this online in March 05 for under $70.) The LCD display is clear and provides lots of info for the geek within. People complain about the clear plastic cover but I think it works fine; it's a tight fit at first, but it will stretch out a little with use, and does a good job of protecting the player from scratches. The elastic armband is comfortable to wear. The Acrobat user manual on the included CD is hard to navigate, but once you fiddle with the player, I find the controls pretty easy to use. After 2 months I've had none of the reported problems with the player locking up, but to be safe I downloaded the updated firmware from the Sandisk web site. The only thing is I'm reluctant to use this in the rain, since nowhere does it state this unit is water-resistant. Overall though, this is a great unit--highly recommended.
