PDF Converter Professional 2 was advertised on the Microsoft web site, http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/EM010948541033.aspx
It seemed to have decent number of reviews. So I purchased it on line and upon install it asked to be activated online. I chose "Activate Automatically". It appeared to activate, but when the program is run it informs you it's a trial version and adds a watermark to the document. The product is also tied to one machine and if you have a hardware failure you must buy it again. I found this statement on their site: "Activation is required to use PDF Converter. The activation process registers the computer and serial number with ScanSoft Activation Server. No personal information is transmitted during the activation process.
Note: To install on another system or hardware configuration an additional license(s) must be purchased."
Support is limited and when I did finally locate someone they told me it was a "VERY LIMITED PRODUCT" and recommended I purchase their more expensive product. I asked if the support was any better with the more expensive product. She said it was the same. Email support will cost you $9.95 and phone support will cost you $19.95 per incident.
I will be returning this product and looking for one which is backed by it's company and not buggy.
