You're correct- they can be made either way. The traditional way is the way you described. Shaking is the alternative.

Perhaps it's just an alternate recipie but as far as I was always trained, Gimlets aren't shaken. They are a mixed drink served in a small/rocks glass.

My husband likes gin, but I think it all tastes suspiciously like Pine-Sol smells. So I won't drink it. But this is still a great review!
