norskmom's Full Review: Sebo X4 Bagged Upright Vacuum
Here I am again, writing on a vacuum. I wrote a review in 2000 and have been through 2 more since. I think we finally found a keeper. By keeper I mean one that will last longer than a year or 2.
I cannot get over the sebo. It cleans better than any machine I have owned. It feels as though it will last longer than any machine I have owned.
It is light and easy to get up the stairs. My husband actually came home with this, he was tired of my complaints I guess. I was struck by the slim design compared to the dirt devil. It goes under furniture easily and its switch to shift from upright to flat is easy to do and only a light touch is needed.
The hose system is really cool. When you need to use a wand for ceilings or corners, you pull this handle up and the hose is automatically in the wand, just point and suck! When you put it back everything just reseats itself seemingly by itself. It came with an extra long hose that is great for stairs, standard on board attachments and a couple that do not go on board.
This is the easiest bag replacement ever. It just slides out and a new one slides in. The dirt devil was a pain in the neck to replace the bag. The dirt devil bag's hole was in the center back of the bag. Every time I took off a bag a big clump of dust/dirt would fall out. The sebo hole is at the top of the bag (makes sense to me) and it slides out not "pulls" off, no clumps!
I love how it automatically shifts to different flooring. A light goes on that it is switching, you stop a few seconds and when the shift is complete the light goes off and you are off!
This vacuum is quieter than most I have ever used. It has a hepa filter.
We purchased it at a vacuum store. I have never seen them in any Walmart or Department store, but that does not mean they don't exist outside a vacuum store. Our dealer recommends that you change the filter every 10 bags. Conveniently the bags can be purchased in boxes of 10, so new box means new filter. He also gave us this tip, the worst thing you can do to any vacuum is pick up pine needles with it. For all of us with real Christmas trees, this poses a problem.
All in all I am very happy with this machine. A friend of mine originally told us about it, she loves hers. I had never heard about it before then. I am very happy with all of its features. The only thing I can't comment on right now is its longevity. If that holds up, it does not get much better than this.
