Taking into account rather low cost (4300 dollars) and functionalities of the server, it is possible to recommend it for use in small on number workgroups.

The server is assembled in compact on size body in floor fulfillment. The additional set allows realizing mounting the server in the 19-inch rack. Then the thickness of the server makes 5 U.

To dignities of body it is possible to refer a possibility of removal of a sideboard without use of tools, and also availability of special clampers which are slowing down bolts, for setting of PCI devices. Besides the reliability of setting of PCI-devices is reached at the expense of use of the additional side holders.

The system of cooling of body consists of two ventilators only, and ventilators are located so that the air stream, created by them, promoted removal of heat from processors and hard disks. Therefore on processors the ventilators are not setting, only radiators.

As the server is intended for use in small workgroups, in it the possibility of setting reserve power supplies with a possibility of a "hot" replacement is not stipulated. On a forward board of body there are two light indicators: power and activity of a disk, therefore primary diagnostics of a condition of the server (on indicators) practically is impossible.

For setting of SCSI-disks with a possibility of a "hot" replacement the basket designed for four disks by a thickness 1 inch is stipulated. Besides in the server there are two vacant places, which can be used for setting of hard disks, but without function of a "hot" replacement. Thus, in the server it is possible to place up to six disks. If maximum volume of the disk in 36,4 Gbytes than maximum volume of a disk subsystem in 218,4 Gbytes.

Server is assembled on basis of the firm dual-processor motherboard with modern chipset ServerWorks ServerSet III LE. One (or two) processor Intel Pentium III 1 GHz (FC-PGA) together with the module VRM enters into a standard package.

Mother board works on frequency of a system bus 133 MHz, supports setting up to 4 Gbytes of the main memory PC133 ECC Registered SDRAM and has two equivalent PCI-buses. Both buses are 33-MHz, but first from them full-scale, that is 64-bit with throughput of 266 Mbytes per second, and second is 32-bit with throughput of 133 Mbytes per second. In the server are setting two 64-bit and four 32-bit PCI-slots.

On the first sight it seems, as in other server boards total number of PCI-slots no more to than five-six, however here, that the adapters and controllers with the PCI-interface, for example videoadapters, network adapters and SCSI-controllers are already integrated.

The primary attention in the server is given to a system of remote administration and monitoring, and also guard from unauthorized access.

Installing in the server of the additional PCI-board of remote management (Compaq Remote Insight Board) together with the enclosing software allows to realize remote network management of the server, using standard Web-browser, and the use built-in on the board processor, memory and network adapter is done such management independent from a condition of the server. Using Web-browser, it is possible to receive remote access to a console of the server, monitoring above the mouse and keyboard, far turn on, turn off and to reload the server.
