Pros: Nice rackmount server, lots of storage
Cons: Not as high density as newer servers
The Bottom Line: Buy it for under $2000.00 if you need high reliability with lots of SCSI storage. If you can get a warranty with it -- go as high as $3000.00

| tarthurs's Full Review: Sun Microsystems Enterprise 250 (A26-UJC1-9S-256CX... |
This server is not available new anymore, but there are tons available at auction sites, through liquidators and the like. While it is not as high density as newer servers from Sun or other manufacturers, it is a nice compromise given that it will hold up to 8 SCSI drives with software RAID. You can get up to 2 400 Mhz CPU and 2 gigs of RAM, making it capable of handling a respectable number of transactions; it is perfectly capable of running Solaris 9, giving it a rich software feature set.
It also makes a fairly decent workstation, although somewhat bulky.
This is one of the best buys in the used market; evaluate what you want it for, though. If you don't need that much storage, you may be happier going with a Sunfire v100 or v120.
