Pros: An organizer that performs the tasks it should.
Cons: The screen is not lighted and so it can only be used with good lighting.
My daughter bought me the Sharp EL-6810 Memo-Master Organizer two years ago because I would have phone numbers/addresses/memos plastered all over my fridge. She figured I needed to get organized as I would continually lose phone numbers and addresses. Having a regular phone book never helped as I never took the time to write the information in it. I would have to change my habits.
I must say for the price, this little gadget performs a number of tasks. It has 64KB memory offering rather powerful data storage but is also slimline, about the size of a postcard and is easy to keep in a small purse or pocket. The case is hard plastic and durable.
When opened, the keyboard letters are basically laid out the same as a typewriter. The shift key is located at the bottom. It allows for easy two-handed typing without fingernails. Above the keyboard is the calculator and 2 inch by ? inch screen plus the power button and arrow keys. On the bottom, you will find the e-mail, shift, Caps, symbol, space, edit, delete and enter keys.
In order to start entering information, there is a set of keys under the screen titled:
Tel 1, Tel 2, Tel 3
After selecting one of these you will be prompted to type the information you wish to store.
GAMES: Include Black-jack and Shark Attack
3 TELEPHONE BOOKS: Prompt for business, personal, URL and e-mail addresses as well as telephone numbers.
SCHEDULER: Prompts for day, month, date, year and function.
MEMO: Just type in the memo and store it.
CLOCK: Follow prompts to set the clock.
CONVERSION CALCULATOR: This also gives easy prompts for calculation.
To retrieve your stored information, just turn the power on, press the button for the feature from which you want to retrieve information and follow the prompts or use the arrow keys. It is very simple and self-explanatory.
* The power turns off when you close the case.
* Even though it is simple to use, there are type-written full instructions inside the case lid.
* Simple to use.
* Durable casing. I have dropped this organizer on concrete and it was not affected.
* There is a reset on this organizer which is accessible by using only a toothpick or pencil head.
* The screen is not lighted and so it is not useable without good lighting.
* It is very hard to type if you have any significant length in your fingernails.
On the whole I am very satisfied with the performance of my organizer. I have never had to change the battery and have stored every address and phone number I have had during the last two years. Sadly, however, I want to upgrade to a lighted screen as it would be a lot more convenient to use at all times. I will still recommend it as it performs every task that a good organizer should.
