Pet Odors Be Gone From Our Bedroom!!!

Cons: Expensive, but hey it works.
The Bottom Line: Anyone looking for a Air Freshener that works in removing odors in small areas, this is for you. This product is quiet, easy to clean, and works.

How many of you out there have a dog or cat that likes to sleep with you in your bedroom? Well we have both and being the softies that my wife and I are, we let them. The problem is along with our 75 pound German Shepard come the normal dog odors. We do have her groomed about every 30-45 days, but even she can’t help getting a bit smelly in that time. Her bed lies on my wife’s side of the bed and is washed every week. Problem two is a bit more smelly, and harder to remedy. Our little Himalayan; yes the one in the picture to the right, she loves to sleep with us. Along with her comes a litter box which is kept in our master bathroom. This box is only used at night when she is in the bedroom, and is cleaned two times a week. These odors are even harder to get rid of. I am not fond of scented air freshener, and some smells even make me nauseous. This left us with a bit of a problem in getting rid of these odors. One day while watch QVC (this seems to be her favorite hobby), my wife ran across the Ionic Breeze Air Freshener for Bathrooms & Small Spaces #SI627. I was very, very skeptical that this would be a solution to our problems, but no one is perfect.
Features And Such,
OK, I’m not an engineer so I have no idea how it works. The air is passed through this product with something that they call a “Zenion Effect™ electronic” method. There is not a fan, but airborne odors and dirt are attracted to this air freshener through an electrostatic type method. The unit is about 8 ˝” long by 2 ˝” wide by 2” deep. It comes with a built-in night-light, and plugs right into a socket with the built-in plug on the back. The inside stainless steel rods are removable and easy to clean. Sharper Image claims that this product will remove such things as dust, pollen, lint and dander along with the odors. This product mounts directly to the socket, and is looks good enough not to clash with your décor.
How Well Does It Work?
After about three weeks of use, I believe that we found a winner. The very first day much the odors disappeared in the bedroom, and bathroom. At first my wife put this air freshener on the far side of the bedroom away from the worst of the odors. The odors were even diminished from across the room. I then moved it to right in the area outside of the bathroom and next to the dog bed. This really seems to make those nasty odors disappear. Also there is virtually no sound made by this unit. I must say I love product that does what they say they will, and this one does.
Easy Cleaning
This section will be short and sweet. The inside rods are removed by pull the tab on the top of the air freshener. You then wipe the dirt, and dust away with a damp cloth. Wait for the rods to completely dry, and return them to the unit making sure that you hear a click to insure they are in properly. I told you it was easy. Also the unit will make a clicking noise when it needs cleaning.
What’s Not To Like?
This air freshener is not cheap. On the Sharper Image website the price that sticks out is $34.98, but reading on tells you that this is with an additional purchase. List price is $69.95 on the site, and QVC has it for $63.54. Luckily we got ours for the QVC Introductory Price of $49.74 plus tax and paid no shipping costs. I am quite sure if you shop around you can find a better price than the website price or the current QVC price. The other problem that I have with this air freshener is when you plug it into a wall socket, it takes up both holes. Even with plugging it in the top plug leaves very little room for a second plug other than a straight in plug in the bottom.
All In All
This product is not going to clean the air in a very large room, but it seems to work very well for us in our bedroom. Keeping the unit close to the odors is the best thing to do in room size applications. I realize that this product is made for small areas such as bathrooms, closets and other small spaces but it does work in our 14’ X 18’ bedroom and small master bath. The odors are now gone between cleanings of the litter box and the dog area is not an issue anymore. I recommend this Sharper Image product for anyone who hates those cover up air fresheners, and wants a small area odor-free.
