Lovely convertible crib for half the price of the designer ones
Written: May 08 '08 (Updated Sep 02 '08)
Pros:Lovely color and stylish design. Affordable!
Cons:Railings are thick so some toys/accessories may not be compatible.
The Bottom Line: I love this crib, it's very elegant and stylish. It looks just as nice as the expensive ones we saw, but at a fraction of the price!
Looks: It was love at first sight with the Simplicity Ellis 4-in-1 Crib when we were crib shopping at Target. We looked everywhere for the perfect cherry-colored crib, and when we saw this on display we knew it was the one! The color is a nice deep cherry color because we wanted something that will still look nice as our son grows into a toddler and beyond. Assembly: The crib was easy to assemble and had easy to follow instructions. I helped my husband set this up while I was 8 months pregnant, and we were able to finish it under an hour. The crib fits all standard sized mattresses, so the Sealy mattress I got was a perfect fit. Functionality: The feature that sealed the deal for us is the fact that it is a 4 in 1. This will allow us to use it as a crib (two heights), toddler bed, and full sized bed. We have been using it for six months, and from the looks of it it seems very durable and I see my son using this crib/bed for many years to come. I also liked that the front rails do not drop, so this was a plus for me. I am a short person (5'2") so I was concerned that I will not be able to reach in and pick up my son, but this turned out not to be an issue at all. One thing to note is that the railings on all sides are very thick, so some crib toys or accessories that you buy may not attach to this model crib. Summary: We keep the crib in our room since my baby is still small, but it actually looks nice since we have dark colored furniture in our room too! I also bought the matching dresser and changing table at Target, and it makes our nursery look very coordinated and expensive (even though we saved so much money by going with this brand!). The crib looks very elegant, yet still charming for a newborn baby.
Update 9/2/08: The only teething rail I've found that will fit this crib is the Gummi Crib Rail, which I highly recommend!
