| miss_jasmin's Full Review: Rio Cali Sport (128 MB) MP3 Player |
I decided to buy a 2nd mp3 player because I was always afraid I'd drop or lose my Karma. The thought of having my entire music library destroyed was pretty devastating. Also, the Karma is a bit heavy and is hard to hold while running. I came upon Cali on sale. I did some quick research and decided that it was perfect for what I needed.
First, it's light and has an armband. This is a pretty important feature when you want to run with something. The armband is adjustable. The Cali takes 1 AAA battery which seems to last awhile, so this helps keep the weight down.
Second, it's expandable using Secure Digital. I'm a huge SD fan because everything else I have uses it - my PDA, my camera, and even my phone. It's pretty inexpensive as well and easy to come by. I considered a jump drive based player, but was not thrilled with the idea of having a fixed amount of space. Because I already have several SD cards, I can make different mixes on each card.
Third, it's pretty hot looking and easy to use. Granted, my opinion may be a bit biased because I already had a Rio mp3 player, but the interface is so easy to use I can't imagine not being able to figure it out. The best part is because I chose to stick with another Rio, I don't need any new software.
So I bought it and I'm still glad I did. There are a couple other useful features that I didn't care so much about but you may. It has an FM tuner; this could come in handy if you want to listen to the news or traffic. Also, it has a stopwatch. Honestly, I can't figure out how to use it, but I haven't exactly read the directions either. It has all the other bells and whistles like shuffle, playlist customization, and other "stuff". The playlist feature is nice because a lot of smaller mp3 players don't offer it, but I've never found one that didn't come with shuffle.
All in all, a great little device. I've had no major mechanical problems and no real complaints.
