Pros: Good software, battery life, very light
Cons: Terrible warranty, questionable durability
The Bottom Line: I would not recommend this player: Player is prone to failure (upgrader bug) and has the shortest warranty of any mp3 player (3 months)... Rio doesn't even trust their durability.

THE BAD:
Rio has the shortest warranty term (3 months) of any mp3 player manufacturer; it appears that even Rio is dubious of their products durability.
I have owned two of these units, neither has been dropped nor mishandled, and both have failed from the upgrader bug (see www.rioworld.org boards) within six months. This is a fairly common bug and if it werent for the retailers extended warranty I would have been out some serious dough. For this reason, combined with the ridiculously short warranty, I will not recommend this product to anyone.
The four-way toggle control is not tactile, you have to be looking right at it to use it accurately. I would have much preferred a four button arrangement like a game-pad.
FM sensitivity is bad, you will only get strong local stations, maybe.
THE GOOD:
Very light and easy to wear for a runner*.
Excellent battery life.
Tactile, easy to find volume control.
Smart and intuitive display and software design.
*I used these units for running strapped to my arm. But it may be that the constant shaking from running contributed to their failure. Treat these players like fine china, or better yet, buy something else.
