itswoodie's Full Review: Rio Nitrus Street (1.5 GB) MP3 Player
After my CD-Player died a few weeks back, I was faced with an important decision regarding my music-listening needs. I could buy another cheap cd-player for roughly $50 OR I could invest in an MP3 Player. After careful consideration, I decided it was time to ditch CD players (much like I turned my back on cassette players years ago) and go with the newer technology.
Although I am an avid music listener (owning roughly 1000 mp3s on my computer), I was not familiar with the new mp3 technology, and had my doubts about it. I began my search reviewing the most popular mp3 brand currently on the market: Apple's iPOD. I was impressed with the selection of players that Apple offered, but there was one major issue holding me back: price. For a 4GB iPod, many stores were asking upwards of $350+. This first glimpse into the mp3 player world made me quetion my judgement to stray from cd players, but I trudged on.
Realizing that Apple is a major brand (hence the high prices), I decided to do a little investigation into other manufacterers. After tedious searching, I came across a well-known brand named RIO. I took some time, and went through Rio's entire website and looked at all of the MP3 players they offered.
I was amazed at all the options Rio offered to the public. With about 10 different mp3 player models, they had something for everyone. Sizes ranged from 32mb all the way up to 20gb, ensuring that even the most liberal mp3 downloader could fit their entire collection onto a player. The second thing I noticed is how slick each player looked. The 1.5GB Rio Nitrus is jet black with a blue backlight, creating a very tech-savy look. It weighs practically nothing, and is smaller then my cell phone! The Apple Ipods tend to be very box-like, and are much bigger then the Rio Nitrus. Even Rio's 20gigabyte model was extremely thin.
I did not want to jump to any decisions, so I spent another day or two checking out alternate brands of players, but in the end nothing compared to the Rio Nitrus. It's price, size, style, and memory make it a fantastic deal, one that no other mp3 player can compare too.
I've owned my Rio Nitrus for a little over a month, and I couldn't be any happier with it. It holds over 450 of my mp3 songs, and looks very nice - making me very happy with my decision.
