I bought this because it was cheap. It was cheap because it's not good. It worked fine for a while, but then I kept getting errors. I don't know how hard it is to write firmwear or the software that interfaces with the player, but these guys don't know how to do it period. When I turn on my Aireo, I get a screen that says Unidentified PCCard Ad then it cuts off that text. The next line says Enter the name of the driver PCCard:

What does this mean? It means that the player doesn't work any more. At all. And the reset button is worthless, as is the tech support, which is just an e-mail address. Right before it went kaput, I was also having trouble importing play lists.

This is a bad device. I don't know if they improved with the next model, but I doubt it. Their website is of shoddy quality, so I don't expect much from them. I did, however, get a year's worth of use out of the produce before it stopped working. If this were a car, TV, or PC I was talking about, that would be unnactable, but because this is an MP3 player, people will probably take that as a positive remark. They shouldn't. It broke and now I have to buy a new one.

Oh, and while it did work, the FM transmitter was worthless.

Paul,

I have never thought of you as a luddite! Matter of fact, it was after reading your film reviews that I decided to buy a 35mm film camera to complement all my Canon lenses. I even (disastrously) experimented shooting on slide film :)

When you shoot on film, you should have the lab put your photographs on CD. This way you get digital shots from your 35mm film camera. The advantage of doing that, is to enable you to share your photography with other enthusiasts such as myself.

I work in midtown very close to MSG. Next time you are there, let's do lunch!

Happy shooting, and happy writing.

Oh, I missed something in that review! I thought you had just 'played' with it in the store! Stupid me; maybe I should learn to read!

If you live near Penn Sta. and the Garden, we should get together sometime. I'll send you my POC info via email.

BTW, I asked Joe McNally if he thought I should buy a slightly used F5 at eBay and he dissuaded me from doing so. He told me that he likes his F100s better than the F5 (primarily because the sensors in the v-finder light up, while those in the F5 do not).

Howard Creech said pretty much the same thing and his buddy, the retailer told him to tell me that I'd be better served buying another NEW F100, especially now that they have a $200.00 Holiday rebate.

I may just do that, unless you make a great case for me buying a D70 (heh, heh, heh).

Hey, why would I do that? I don't even have a computer at home!

So, do you still think I'm a Luddite?

Cheers, old sport!

When will I buy the 20D?
When Epinions subsidizes the purchase :)

Some of my photography inspirations are Sam Abell, Sisse Brimberg and Maria Stenzel. Their landscape work is phenomenal.

Since I just got the Kodak DCS Pro SLR/c, I doubt that I will replace it anytime soon.

So you were at the Hotel Pennsylvania eh! You should have looked me up...I'm only a few blocks from there.

The best,
Ash

YAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to the Nikon School this past Saturday at the Hotel Pennsylvania in NYC and didn't see you there! They have modified content and geared it to all you guys who have gone digital. Even still, I learned a lot.

Joe McNally was the guest speaker (I had taken a lighting w-shop at his studio in Dobbs Ferry in October. He's a great photog AND teacher!

Hey Ash, when you gonna get a 20D so we can read that review?
