kornell_911's Full Review: Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T1 Digital Camera
I purchased the T-1 about a month ago and have been using it for recreational purposes.
Overall, the camera has good form factor and takes decent pics. I'm satisfied with the deal that I got (e.g. purchased through my.sony.com along w/ the $45 rebate making the overall purchase around $305).
Size: The camera fits in the palm of my hand and feels very sturdy. The T-3 version of the camera, available only in the UK and Asia has a lens cover, whereas the T-1 has a slidetop. I prefer the T-1 slidetop.
The LCD screen (note no viewfinder) is the main selling point to the camera. It's big - bigger than ordinary Canons and even the Casios.
Battery Life: Very good. Has not run out on me while I've been shooting.
Pic quality: Decent, not great. The Canon and my Opto-S gave off better pics. The flash on the camera is weak and there is fuzziness on pics (center of pictures). Video works very well on the camera - long VGA video clips.
Also, there is bad redeye reduction feature on the camera. B
eware.
Where to buy? Check out techbargains for deals or even Dell (on occasion).
Other cameras? I had considered the 5MP Casio as well as the Canon SD series. I opted for the T1 primarily because of the good deal and the cool factor. If you live in the UK, perhaps check out the T3.
In retrospect I should have gone for the Casio (since it was cheaper and takes better pics / see dpreview.com)
