I just change my JVC GRDVM-90 (because it died) for that new Sony DCR-PC105E. There is plenty of features .It can take picture and video and it fits in my ski jacket.
Picture
The photo are pretty good for a camcorder, but not as good as a 300$ camera that is just for picture. The flash work well and is a must on a camera. The zoom is incredible.
The video
The video come out crisp and the colors are very nice. I did not have any problem to take film even in low light condition. The feature I use the most are the beach-ski mode for very bright scene and the night shut mode that is amazing (like in survivor). The zoom button is very sensible you need to use it carefully an smootly.
Manageability
It is very easy to get used to the touch screen and the menu are well done. There is not many buttons since almost everything is managed by the touch screen. The battery is good and one nice feature is the battery meter that show you almost exactly how many minutes you have left before it died. The 8 meg memory stick that come with it is a joke go buy a 128 or 256 meg card and you won't worry about a full memory card.
This is Sony so it might me a bit more expensive then other similar camcorder but I think it is worth the price. If you can take the extended warranty.
