finalizing (Reply to this comment)
by cubmomma
I know that this is an older review, but it was interesting to read. I have written a review about the DCR-DVD200 back in April '04 (http://www.epinions.com/content_137674591876)
In your review you mention that it took 10 minutes to finalize the disk that you had recorded on for a few minutes. Maybe the 201 has the same issue as the 200. I have noticed that when there is not much on the disk it takes longer to finalize. When the disk is completely full, it usually takes less than 3 minutes to finalize. Still a longer time than tapes (as they don't need finalizing), but you don't have to finalize the disk right away. So if you're somewhere filming, you can wait until you get home to finalize your disk.
Anyway I just wanted to mention that the fuller the disk, the shorter the finalization seem to be.

You answered a lot of questions for me. As with a lot of long reviews yours is actually well organized and easy to read which makes it extremely useful. I've copied out parts just for future reference in my notes.
Thank you!
