evossman's Full Review: Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P100 Digital Camera
I found this camera to be kind of a transition camera. Although its simple simple for a novice point and shooter, it also gives the option to play with the settings a lot. Don't be daunted by them though, if you want a simple and robust camera just grab and start taking pictures.
Speaking of robust, I have dropped this camera a ton of times so I think it is made very durable. And the battery lasts a long time. I have had no troubles.
I live in Hawaii and purchased this camera along with the sony underwater case. I searched a lot of cameras and looked at a lot of pictures of underwater point and shoot digital cameras taken underwater and found that the flexibility of the DSC-P100 was the best. Although you can get the 7.2 MP model who needs that many pixels, save your money so you can buy the underwater case.
I have already used the camera a ton above water and beneath. I have used it surfing, snorkeling, hiking through wet areas, taking sports pictures, nights on the town, and close up. If you want to see some of the pictures we have taken check out the site www.alohaupdate.com. All the pictures on that site were taken with this camera. There's a lot of underwaters too.
I guess people say its the Carl Ziess lens, sure ok I'll give. But whatever that is its a great camera. It allows those of you who like to futs with features to do so and those who don't point and shoot.
One feature that my girlfriend and I use a lot is the TV plug. The camera comes with a plug to plug into your TV, an AV plug. We always come home and watch a slideshow on the TV, super easy.
Other things are all the features without all the added complexity.
