I'm wondering if the author actually owns this unit.... (Reply to this comment)

Having read the other reviews of this product I'm guessing that the author either doesn't own this unit, or never bothered to load and use the Explorer inteface. Perhaps you took the "book" approach and gave up on the players interface? If so, that would be important to note here.

A few questions..... (Reply to this comment)
by mitchells
I wrote a review of a previous model that I bought and returned. It had a ton of problems...can you tell me if any of the following limitations have been corrected?

1) Is the disc explorer interface intuitive?
2) Can discs be named with more than 16 letters?
3) Are "Genres" still used, if so can you add more?
4) If genres are used, can you eliminate them from the titled browse list so speed it up?
5) When you turn it on, it doesn't attempt to play the last disc loaded does it? Old version did!
6) How fast is it at swapping discs? For example if you put it on shuffle play for music cds...whats the delay between tracks?

7) Does it play PC VCDs (MPEGs), DVD R, DVD -R, CD RW, CD-R, CD-R JPEG dics(slideshows)DVD-A? Any other formats I've forgetten?

I'm looking for a jukebox I can load all my CDs and DVDs into, and want it to be able to categorize my music CDs (categorizing movies isn't as important, but would be nice). From your review is seems like there are only 4 folders one could use to accomplish this?

1. after 3 days, my unit stopped playing DVDs. Took it in for repair and two weeks later, still not working. Had to return to GoodGuys.com, no hassle. Purchased a new unit for same price at local GoodGuys retailer.

2. Disk Explorer is slow. You have to wait for a disk to start playing to activate it. If disk fails to play (see above), you have to wait for next disk to play to activate. The only way to break out of this loop is to eject a disk (only relevant to defective unit).

1.three days after receiving this unit, it would no longer play DVDs. In for service now, it'll take a week.

2. Accessing Disk Navigator (for navigating titles/text) is slow. You have to wait for a disk to start playing to access this feature. If the disk fails to play (as above) the unit loads the next disk and you have to wait again. The only way to break out of this is to hit Open or Eject or wait until it encounters a disk it can play.

I've run into a couple of problems with this unit which you should know about before purchase.

1. After using the unit for only 3 days, it will no longer play any DVD disc. Taking it in for service now. Could be a fluke, but it seems a bad omen.

2. The Disk Navigator (for finding text info on loaded disks) is pretty slow. If a disk cannot be played (such as the problem ref above) the unit insists on loading the next disk and WILL NOT allow you to navigate to a different disk with Disk Navigator. IF the next disk is also unplayable, you are stuck in a loop, until it reaches one which is playable, you open the disk loader, or navigate to a specific playable disk number. Granted this is a much smaller problem with a fully functioning unit, but it is still annoying that you cannot invoke Disk Navigator while the unit is loading a disk (you have to wait til it starts playing).

Thanks for your comment. My review says: "The CDs that contain CD Text (and some SACDs) let you avoid having to enter the song titles (which you can do by connecting a PC keyboard to the changer’s front panel)."

I have this unit and you should add this information to the review.

1) The unit loads the film name into the disc
explorer menu on a very low hit rate. This is
because many DVD's are not encoded with the
DVD-text attribute. The keyboard is a viable
option. I did not see this in your review and
I know most jukebox owners are looking for
this feature.

2) The keyboard availability to enter in information into disc explorer should be mentioned because this is also critical if
you are looking to supplement the lack of hits
on the DVD-text.

Your reviews is good but adding these two items
will answer questions by many people. If you do not add this is the next couple of weeks, I will
do my own review and include them.
