Pros: Picture quality Sound quality Built-in receiver automatically receives HD direct from cable
Cons: Cabinet is uninspiring
After shopping around in person and then checking out reviews, I settled on this model for our relatively small TV room (viewing distance about 10 feet). We've had it for about a week now and we love it. Took it out of the box, plugged in the cable and the power and let it do it's auto-channel detection process. Remarkably, without any set-top box or cable card or intervention from the cable company (RCN standard cable service in Boston) the set detected all of the channels including the HD ones (we don't get any premium channels). The picture quality is outstanding from a wide horizontal viewing angle although narrow vertically. The HD, including 1080i and 720i, is beautifully bright and crisp, the SD channels are also very good. There is a built in subwoofer, so the sound quality is a major step up from our old Sony, though not as good as a separate sound system. To me, the remote is intuitive and works fine. We've tried it with a standard DVD player through S-video cable and the quality is quite good--can't wait to upgrade to a progressive scan with component cables. Haven't had a chance to play with all of the features yet, but dual picture seems to work fine. For under 2K delivered, this was a great buy and I highly recommend it.
