kulokoy's Full Review: Sony Grand WEGA KDF-70XBR950 70 in. HDTV LCD TV
i waited for this since i saw it last Nov. in CC. before we move from FL to DEN. got mine as soon as we purchase a new house last 24 of march 04 ( about a month and a half because of unavailability ). first impression, huge, awesome, bang for the buck $6300.00 + warranty + tax.
i know you can get this lower but at an unauthorize dealer. very happy except that this thing is heavy to bring upstairs
i started enjoying watching dvd on it. screen door effect very common on LCD noticeable about 8 to 9 ft. no big deal. swap a SAMSUNG HLN617W for a bigger screen w/c is also defective ).
notice 2 white dots ( about 3 pin head size together ) on the left bottom so i got a little bit concerned. but again no big deal, got extended warranty.
after a week, check the screen, a bout, 9 more appeared but unnoticeable ( very minute ).
called service and their sending tech and explained dead pixel are normal on LCD but not noticeable on DLP ( SAMSUNG HLN617W ). they said that they have a certain standard that is acceptable in their industry regarding dead pixel.
i got pretty upset about it for a $7270.00 TV set that won't perform to my expectation.
rather than returning it, i decided to upgrade to a front projector for $ 6640.00 ( SHARP XV-Z10000U DLP msrp was 7999.95 ) + a 92' screen.
hopefully i get a bigger and better picture, unnoticeable pixel and have fun ( will only be use for dvd movies period )
my advice, check your unit from time to time so you can catch dead pixel appearing one after another so you can report it right away.
