Never have we spent a more enjoyable evening watching television than last night, our first night with the new set. Seeing Rabbit-proof Fencing on a progressive scan DVD player, through the Sony KF-42WE610 LCD rear projection TV was like having a movie theater in our home. And just to put the new television and DVD player through their paces, we played a little bit of Lion King, including the music video. Our conversation was pretty much limited to “Oh wow! Oh wow!”
We were dazzled by the luminosity of the scenes with blue sky or sunsets. The images are so crisp, they’re almost three-dimensional. The 42-inch screen and 16:9 aspect contributed to the movie-theater-like experience. The 30 watts of music from the television speakers sound like a stand-alone stereo receiver. Images from television stations was good too, even with only basic cable. We might trade up to digital cable -- I know it would look so much better on this set -- but basic cable was okay. The images looked good.
This was an expensive set, more than we’ve ever spent on television before, but the reality of the TV-watching experience exceeded our expectations.
We looked at buying the set online or from a local discounter, but we ended up going with the local Sony store. The salesman spent over an hour with us, comparing the different models and educating us about televisions. Plus, once we bought it, they gave us great service: assembled the stand and sent over a delightful team the next day to deliver and set up the TV. They also hung around awhile to show us how to use it (we are rich in remotes!).
