Grand WEGA failing...I need some serious help please!

Pros: Energy efficient and I love the split screen option.
I have not seen this anywhere.

Cons: The cooling fan has a tendency to stuck once in awhile.

My 50" WEGA is going strong for 3 years now; but lately  - a month ago - it has a problem.
I am getting a puple hue on the bottom when the picture contains grey or just black & white.
The hue is a crescent shape and is about 4-6 inches high.
I was wondering: is this the end for the bulb or is this something that willl require repair in a shop.
I want to keep this TV; I have not seen any other TV with such a great picture even on standard definition channels.
The high def. channel is STUNNING !
Anyone out there has some input; that would be appreciated.
