Pros: Top dog. 3 inputs. Sleek design. Cable cover. Included cables. Lasts forever.
Cons: Price!!! UGH! Won't die!!! 25ms response time.
The Bottom Line: Wish I'd have waited. In May of 04, the price was reasonable. I wish it would die tho. I hate the response time.

| ninefoot3's Full Review: Sony HX-Series 19 inch LCD Monitor |
The Sony SDM-HX93 BLACK. What can I say about it? We'll find out.
Reason for purchase?
Owned an NEC 17" LCD and a Viewsonic A90f 19" CRT. Loved them both. One was too small, one was too big (if ya know what I mean). Boss had one of these and I loved it.
Price paid : $899 after $100 instant. I purchased the $100 5 year extended from Circuit City (don't do that ever). I'll review Circuit City later.
Usage Environment :
My home. I used this monitor to play my game on. I play America's Army (have for almost 4 years now).
Quality :
Build quality is exceptional. Solid build feel and well placed buttons.
Features :
3 inputs with dedicated speaker input for all 3.
2 of the inputs are RGB (db-15)
1 is DVI
Sliding rear back cover to hide wiring
User modes offer different preset contrast/brightness levels for on-the-fly settings
Speakers located at the bottom of the unit
What do I think of these features?
3 inputs = NICE!!! I've used this to run 3 pc's at once. Input selector is nice and will default to whichever input is 'active' if you only have one PC powered up.
Connector placement ? It's a tad cumbersome connecting the cables but no big deal. I love the sliding rear cover that keeps wiring hid and well managed. This would make a nice model to have on a desktop where people could see the rear of the monitor (they won't see the wires).
User modes : I love the GAME setting for those dark maps in my game. It's nice to be able to switch back to another viewing environment with a simple click of a button. USER setting allows you to preset your own custom levels of adjustment.
Speakers : Weak but better than nothing. It's to be expected. Seems too much vibration from any low end frequency would cause rattle damage to the internal parts of any monitor.
Included cables are high quality. Mine came with 1 speaker cable (mini to mini), 1 DVI ( i think 6 foot ) and 1 RGB (db 15) cable (6 foot as well). No need to get any boutique brand cables for this monitor.
Buttons on the monitor are sweet. I love the placement and overall, they are simple to use, find etc. If it's dark tho, you'll have to use a braile method to find the right one. I wish they'd have put a little LED at the location of each one.
25ms response time is a little high for any application demanding on video, namely gaming. I, however, have yet to see any ghosting or artifacting (usually caused by vid card).
I use this model with a Radeon 9800XT @ 256mb and stock clocks. I've used it with other lower-end cards with nice results.
I've attempted to hook the unit up to a cable box via the dvi cable. It shows an image for a few seconds then goes to "no input' display. Oh well :) LOL.
I hate that this monitor just sits on a shelf unused. I paid $1000 with warranty and have seen them sell for $300 on ebay (used). I can't bring myself to take that large of a loss so I'd rather see it die on a shelf. Maybe it will rot a little to the point of permanent damage so I can have it replaced with a newer model via my extended warranty.
Would I buy again? Not at this price. I'm purchasing a 24" widescreen Dell (2405FPW) as soon as their price settles back down a little.
