Pros: Latest technology, many features,menus well thought out, relatively easy learning curve. HIGH QUALITY VIDEO!!!
Cons: Supplied battery doesn't cut it, Software...(Must read the manual). 1.0 stillpics decent. Discs = expensive.
The Bottom Line: As I stated, if you can afford it, and like the advantages of recording to disc, BUY THIS CAMERA! You WILL NOT be disappointed.

I had all but decided on the DCRTRV33, but when I saw them both in person, I couldn't resist the DVD200. The drawback is 30 min. discs, but you can record 60 min. in standard mode, which still looks better than analog. (MiniDV's are good for 80 min.) You can also purchase double sided discs. Prices should continue to come down, I paid $11.99 for a dvdrw disc. (It was $20 earlier this year.) I didn't like the touch screen menus on the TRV33, ie: as you sweat, and fingers get dirty on a trip to the zoo, or wherever. The DVD200 retains buttons instead, and I prefer that. I think the video quality is really good, ( at least as good as the trv33, maybe a bit better in the 30 min. recordings.), and the idea of recording on a disc, not a tape is very appealing. I also like the placement of the buttons, ie: zoom, and record. The night shot, and super night shot do work, but its not the be all end all.( Sony sells an attachment to extend your range, however.) The image stabilization works nicely. I like how easily I connected to my computer ( follow the instructions on the usb driver). Many have complained about the Pixela software that is included. If you take the time to read the manual, it isn't so bad, and becomes easier. I am going to try some other programs, however, as your ability to edit does seem somewhat limited. In closing Both camcorders have their strengths and weaknesses, and it is up to you to decide if the extra $ is worth it. I LOVE this purchase, and I know this product will last me for many years to come.
