Pros: a fine well-tuned picture especially with DVD & HDTV
Cons: convergence required 6X;
picture tubes now replaced by more expensive ones
The Bottom Line: I have done my research and am pleased with the quality, and it's worth comparison shopping to be able to enjoy this giant step in viewing!

I'm still spasmodically happy with the picture; when it's
adjusted . When I complained to the dealer he said
I should step up to a newer model - this one was 1 month old.
But by perseverance I found a technician willing to go the extra mile. I'm happy that Sony has SOME reputable
dealers and service contractors!
The picture tubes were cheaper than those in smaller
sets - to their credit Sony replaces them with better
quality tubes . This is 5 months into ownership
and adjustments are ongoing.
Now that newer models are out ,I can't speak to them,
but with a big expense the better part of valour would
be to check with the after - service tek to better
predict just what you're getting into. New update
- manufacturer just extended the normal warranty unsolicited by another year; I believe that's more than fair, and more than one would expect. Let's hope it's a trend!
