Pros: Incredible picture
Not too viewer height sensitive
Great with XBOX and TIVO etc
Great price
Cons: Base of TV sticks out at front - not flush fitting.
Remote not fully backlit.
The Bottom Line: A superb buy for under $3000. Amazing picture quality. DVD playback quality still shocks me at times.

| pelucidor's Full Review: Sony KP-57WV700 57 in. HDTV CRT TV |
Purchased the TV to go into our newly built house in March 2003. Paid about $2700 to my AV guy to buy it and install it which I thought was cheap for the quality you get. After tweaking with a Digital Video Essentials reference DVD it looks spectacular - beautiful colours, more than sufficient brightness (the TV cabinet has huge windows along the left wall but you can still watch ok during sunny days).
Also the KP-57WV700 is much less sensitive to position of viewer (height - standing, sitting on floor etc) than any other RPTV I considered (including WV600). I cannot comment on the TVs sound as I use it exclusively through a Denon AVR-3803 into B&W 602 surround system.
I hated the silver bottom half of the TV cabinet so built a custom enclosure for the TV (a front frame cover the bottom half of the TV and the gap between the TV and cabinet) and other equipment (DVD, Receiver, TIVO, XBOX, center and front speakers, subwoofer, etc). All you see is the flat glass screen of the top half floating in the middle of this huge cabinet (acoustic fabric over bottom half for speakers and infrared receiver) - everyone thinks it is a plasma screen when they see it.
Remote is not fully backlit.
