The Sony KV-24FV12 FD Trinitron WEGA TV has absolutely flat screen. 24” size is well-suited for small-sized and medium-sized rooms. It also looks hi-tech with its silverish-gray finish and sharp angles.

The flat screen is more difficult and expensive to produce, which translates to higher prices – this TV costs $500, which is not a small price for a 24” TV.
But the flat screen not only looks good, but also improves your viewing experience. The main advantage of the flat screen is the fact that the straight lines look straight on the flat screen when watched from an angle (in conventional TVs they get curved) and there is no picture distortion when watched from an angle.
And the glare is significantly reduced, since the flat screen reflects the light at a consistent angle, so the light coming from above gets reflected down and where you cannot see glare. Conventional TV tubes reflect light in all directions, creating glare, and even antiglare coating cannot completely eliminate it.
The 24FV12 produces excellent picture quality. The picture is sharp and clear, even in the corners of the screen, where TVs usually have difficulties focusing. The edges of the images are well-defined.
The velocity scan modulation can be controlled (Off/Low/High) from the menu. The TV also employs a three-line digital comb filter to improve the separation of chrominance and luminance (color and light information).
The TV comes with an S-Video input, which allows you to bypass the comb filter and pass the signal directly to color decoder. This way you can eliminate the rainbow-like Moire patterns caused by the comb filter.
The 24FV12 has an RF, S-Video and A/V composite video inputs on the rear panel. The front panel features a headphone out and another composite A/V input.
The TV has fixed and variable audio outs and S-Video detection spares you from the need to specifically select S-Video or composite video input.
You can specify 5 favorite channels and the parental control with the V-chip allows you to restrict viewing of certain programs. The timer (2 events) and sleep timer (15-90 minutes) allow you to turn the TV off and on when needed using the timer. The Video Label feature shows you the device name instead of the input number, saving you from mistakes and some frustration.
In addition to Video Label, you can label up to 40 channels. The TV also has auto white balance, vertical aperture compensation and tilt correction. XDS (Extended data service) shows the information about the show you are watching (on channels that support it).
Audio tract features simulated surround sound (but you can connect the TV or your DVD player to a real surround sound system), stereo speakers (10 W each), stereo reception, MTS decoder with DBX noise reduction and SAP. The steady sound auto volume control helps when different channels have different volume.
The universal remote control controls DBS, cable boxes, VCRs, DVD and LD players of different manufacturers. Some buttons are small, but the remote is compact and the button layout is logical. The batteries are included
The Sony KV-24FV12 is not cheap, but you get stylish TV with lots of features and great picture quality.
