Pros: Great picture, flatter than most competitors.
Cons: Horrible slant or distortion of the picture geometry.
I bought a Sony KV-27S42 27" TV and returned it that very day because of picture geometry problems. The second unit I received had the same exact problem only this time, the geometry was slanted the other direction making any kind of wide screen movie un-watchable (unless you were to slightly tilt the TV). All of the display models in 3 stores ALL had the same problem with slightly slanted pictures.
Another Epinions reviewer had similar problems with his Sony TV. You can read his review which states my same problems at http://www.epinions.com/./elec-review-E92-3A5FA74-39AF0756-prod1
I am going to return the second TV tomorrow and buy a Panasonic.
The features on this TV are excellent. The remote is the most intuitive I have seen and most people can skip reading the manual because of the ease of setup and use.
The quality of the picture is second to none which is why I hate to think about buying another brand because of the problems I have with mine. Also, the picture tube is much more flat than other brands.
This TV would be perfect for my needs if only the picture was not slanted slightly.
A quick test is to use the menu feature and check to see if all the text everywhere on the screen appears level. If you can, put in a widescreen DVD or video cassette and make sure that the black bars on the top and bottom are consistent size and are level.
I have always bought Sony products for TV's, stereos, computer monitors, etc... but Sony's quality control for this product is horrible.
Always check the display models in the store folks!
