Pros: Nice picture and features while it lasted
Cons: TV failed after only 3 years, cost of repair too much, poor customer service.
Ok folks.. I know you are reading this title and thinking..SONY, POS??? Yes thats right...
I have owned other SONY tv's and all have lasted for over 10 years. So when I wanted to upgrade my television set I decided that SONY was the way to go.. boy was I wrong.
The set was good while it worked. Yes the picture quality was far better than most on the market at the time and yes it has all kinds of bells and whistles, which at the time was not common (of course today most tv's come with the same features this one has). I paid top dollar for this thing and expected it to last longer than three years.
Ok, so my cost of 425.00 spread out over three years means it cost me 144.67 a year to own this tv set.
What is that? You know ive never had such an awful experience in my life. After playing games with a completely automated answering system or simply having to wait on hold for over 45 minutes and giving up completely, I found my way to the first customer service agent, then the next and the next and given over 5 file numbers to "reference" my claim, I finally land with some type of supervisor. She is rude and informs me that it is "unreasonable to expect an electronic product to last longer than three years" and that "NO ONE can estimate how long a tv should last." Hmm.. interesting.. Consumer reports says an average expected lifespan of a TV set is 10 years.. I guess SONY has different standards.
Well what would you expect from SONY but a good high quality product??? WRONG..this thing is NOT their typical high end product at all..
Furthermore, its ALL over the internet and other reviews that this tv and the 32" models have problems and faulty solder jobs resulting in them failing right around the three year mark. Tubes leaking, audio problems, the list goes on and on....
WHat is wrong with my SET???
Well one of the tubes is leaking they have to resolder all the connections because they are all faulty, the power cord and the connections have to be replaced. SEE I TOLD YOU THIS THING IS A POS!!!
I bet you are thinking, well maybe this shop is trying to take advantage of you.. NOPE.. got two seperate shops to look at it and both came back with the same verdict.
Because of this experience I WILL NEVER buy sony products again..
While I understand that I may have gotten a bad TV and all the others may be just wonderful, after my experience with rude customer service agents and SONY's unwillingness to back up their product.
THIS TV has POOR QUALITY WRITTEN ALL OVER IT!!!!!!!
