| mcfarlandx4's Full Review: Sony KV-32FS10 32 inch TV |
I had been thinking about buying a larger TV for awhile and finally decided on the Sony. In general, Sony tends to be a little more expensive than some other brands, but I have found it to be a brand I can trust. Almost all of the electronic products I have are Sony and they all have been reliable.
Getting this TV home was somewhat difficult. My husband and I managed to get the boxed TV into the back of our minivan with the back seat pushed forward the whole way. A third person would have been helpful because it is heavy. The box does come with handles on it though which did help a little.
When we got the TV home, we managed to get it into the house (although I discovered my legs were bruised later from the box hitting them). The easiest way we found to get it out of the box was to break the box open on all sides so we could get a better grasp on the TV.
With its 32 inch screen size, the TV measures 35 3/8 inches wide, 27 3/8 inches high and 22 5/8 inches deep. The speakers are located on each side and the buttons are located underneath a cover with the exception of the power button. I like having the buttons covered because my son likes to change the channels and turn up the volume, but I wish the power button was covered too because now he turns it off all the time.
Some of the features which influenced my decision to buy this product include the V-chip parental controls, closed captioning, easy to use remote control and the sleep timer. You can choose between English, Spanish and French. Also, there is a A/V input in the front and in the back along with an S-video input for a better picture. Adjusting the TV to your preference is easy using the setup menu. There are different modes you can choose which adjust the settings for maximum viewing: standard, vivid, movie and sports.
Besides working on the TV, you can program it to work on the VCR, DVD and cable box. There are codes for other brands but all of ours are Sony so they of course were compatible.
When this TV is first turned on it takes a noticeable amount of time to see the picture. It isn't too much of a problem but I thought I would point it out.
One thing this TV doesn't have is picture in picture (PiP). If this is a feature you want, I would choose the 200 model of this same TV. It is a little more expensive but it offers all the same things as this one with the PiP added.
Overall, I am very happy with this TV!
*Update October 2006: This TV is still working great. The door that goes over the channel buttons has broke and a couple of the buttons have broke as well. I have two little boys who have been very rough on it over the years though. Still a great TV!
