The Bottom Line: If you want a crisp picture out of a 36" but you don't want to spend crazy amounts of money on an HDTV then you'll love the Wega.

| pyros7's Full Review: Sony KV-36FS12 36 inch TV |
Well when I graduated from college it didn't take me long to realize that my 15 inch TV/VCR combo from the old dorm room wasn't gonna quite cut it in the real world, so it was on to Best Buy.
I took my time reviewing quite a few different possibilities and finally ended up with the Sony Wega, and I've been very happy with it ever since.
Picture Quality
The picture quality on the Wega is excellent. Unlike most large screen TVs, the Wega can be viewed from any angle without the picture fading away. After all, who wants to spend $1,500 on a big screen TV that only the 2 people in front of it can see? And with the component video inputs you'll swear you're almost watching an HDTV. Especially in the high resolution wide screen mode. I guarantee you won't be disappointed in the picture you get from the Wega. You won't see anything better without spending twice as much.
The model I bought does not have a picture in picture tuner, which was just fine with me because it was $100 less. I don't miss it at all, who really uses that thing?
Inputs
This thing has more inputs than most people could ever need. There is one component line for DVDs, or an SVideo for DVDs, plus a few more lines in for VCRs and game systems. It's easy to switch back and forth between all of them with only one button. I especially like the feature that allows you to name the lines in. So instead of flipping though Video1, Video2...you can call them DVD, VCR, GAME...
Sound
Surprisingly the Wega has a great stereo sound. You can adjust it easily through the on screen menus. For maximum enjoyment though I suggest hooking it up to a home theater surround system.
Menus
The menus are very easy to navigate and figure out. I had no trouble just hitting the menu button and flipping through the options to do everything I wanted to do. I will say however that the one drawback this TV has is that it doesn't automatically recognize wide screen formats from DVDs and automatically change the screen to the 16:9 format. It's a real pain to keep the TV remote handy to do nothing but change the screen size for every DVD you put in.
