I currently own Sony's MDS-JE520 Minidisc deck. It is a great system. It both records and plays minidiscs, in either mono or stereo. Hooked up to the right speakers, it can really "rock the house". With one optical output, two optical inputs, and both analog in and outputs, you will be able to keep and convert all of your music and other sound files to a 100% digital machine. The 520 offers a digital recording level monitor and has many editing functions under a cleaverly placed menu. Other system functions include a built in sleep mode that is set to turn off after a certain amount of time. You can also easily label your tracks and discs with the handy remote control. The only drawback of this machine is that it is not portable. However, it serves a a great companion to a portable minidisc either player or recorder. This allows for music at home or on the go, and with two machines, it is easy to make 100% digital copies. Minidiscs are very popular over-seas, and I predict that they will become popular over here to. The only qiestion is how long will it take? I highly recommend the Sony MDS-JE520 minidisc deck to anyone looking for a good quality digital minidisc player and recorder.
