shopprnicole's Full Review: Sony MagicGate Memory Stick PRO (512 MB) (MSXM512S...
I purchased this because the memory stick that came with my camera only held about 12 pictures. And at that rate, you might as well be using a 35mm and developing your film (At least you get 24 pictures per roll)!
Size of the memory stick
1 15/16" x 13/16" and weighs virtually nothing.
Price
It is expensive, but I caught it on sale for either $59 or $69. These sales happen somewhat often--I've seen it be on sale twice in the last 4 months.
Why do I need this much memory space?
Because I take a lot of pictures. I don't always have time to load them onto my computer between birthdays/holidays/etc. It comes in handy. Also it is like carrying around a photo album, you can show people pictures from various recent events. It is entertaining. Also, it is very useful when going on vacation. When I had a 35mm I would bring like 7 rolls with me just in case. With this memory stick you don't have to worry about running out of room.
So, how many pictures does it really hold?
With my Sony 7.2 Megapixel camera, it holds as follows:
With the camera set at: VGA(email) It holds: 3,071
With the camera set at: 1M, It holds: 787
With the camera set at: 3M, It holds: 319
With the camera set at: 5M, It holds: 200
With the camera set at: 7M, It holds: 145
Granted this is with a 7.2 megapixel camera and if you have less megapixels it will probably hold a lot more.
Problems I've had
none. Has worked flawlessly.
Directions
Just take it out of the package and insert it into your camera. But I assume you already know this!
Additional comments
It has a lock switch on the back to prevent accidental erasure of pictures.
