ciberhac's Full Review: Sony Net MD Walkman MZ-N510 Personal MiniDisc Play...
I originally, started out wanting an inexpensive way to take my music with me everywhere. I good friend of mine has had minidisc players since they were introduced and he convinced me to get one. I was originally looking at the MZ-NE410. I considered that unit because of the price. It's a great buy, however I decided to go with the MZ-N510CK. You can't beat the value for the price on this machine. I got mine for $129 from Best Buy and I couldn't be happier. It comes with the car kit (30 dollar value alone)and you also get a remote control, ac adaptor and a digital optical line in jack (not on the MZ-NE410) which allows you to record from any source. The unit doesn't come with the optical cable :( but at least it is an option. I have read many reviews about the Sonic Stage software and all I can say is do not believe the bad comments. All you need to do is make sure you have the lastest update version (availiable free from Sony's website) and you are all set. The software is extremly easy to use. I am fairly computer savy but I think anyone can use this program. Many people knock the transfer speed, I use the LP4 mode because you really can't tell the difference and it the best as far as capacity. The quality is excellent!! I was able to completely fill 5 minidiscs in about 1 hour. Sounds like a lot? Well think about it roughly 80 songs per disc, times 5 discs, thats 400 songs in 1 hour. Come on, thats incredible!! Next, about this check in, check out copyright limitation, there is a way around everything. Just ask any computer savy person. Anyway, are you really gonna record a song on more than 3 minidiscs. Lastly, the battery life is un-believable it just goes and goes. I recommend using the included AC adaptor for recording and batteries for playback. I play mine for 8 hours a day at work and I am on my 4th day with the same energizer battery. In all, I did my homework on this unit and I read many many reviews, the plain truth is yes, there are models out there with more bells and whistles but they also cost alot more. This is the absolute best model for the value hands down.. My hat goes off to Sony!!!
