Let me start off by saying my son loves video games. He has a Playstation 2, a Gameboy ds and a Nintendo Wii.
I purchased a PSP for my son one year for Christmas. This past CHristmas I bought him Metal of Honor for the PSP. When he put the game in the console it asked him to first charge his psp so he could update the software to accept the game.
I pluged the PSP in overnight to charge and the next day we were going to do the system update. When he got home I had him give the game boy to me and proceded to do the update. During the update the screen turned black as if the download froze the PSP. I was confused and turned it off because it had stoped working. THen I tried to turn it back on and nothing happened.
Imagine my frustration when I call Sony and they inform me that I had "bricked" my playstation and I could pay them $99 to refurbish it for me. Keep in mind it was only a tiny bit over a year old and he hardly ever played with it. I had origninally paid $199 for it. I then told them about how when his Nintento Ds got dropped in the toilet they replaced it for free no questions asked. THe customer service there was very rude and not helpful at all. I told them to forget it that I would never buy another playstation item again.
I started to research this phenomona online and come to find out it happens quite often. So I honestly will never buy another playstation item again because I thinkit is a scam to make more money. Doing one of their system downloads should not ruin the whole system. So I say stay away from this PSP or it could be just as useful as a brick.
