Pros: It will control any and all infrared remote controlled devices in you home.
Cons: Batteries go pretty fast, and touch screen can be difficult at times.
The Bottom Line: If you have a lot of remotes floating around the sofa, consolidate them into one easy to use, all powerful Remote Commander.

| theoldmandave's Full Review: Sony RM-AV3100 LCD Remote Control |
For most people, including myself, this remote is a little overkill. But when it comes to ease of use and depth of control, this thing can't be beat. Some might say this remote is too big, but I disagree. Where other remotes might get lost between the sofa cusions, the enormous size of this unit keeps it in plain sight at all times. Some might say that using 3 or more remotes to control a TV, DVD player, and receiver isn't that bad, but I disagree. I will never go back to remote swapping again. If I were to lose this remote in one way or another, I would be back online ordering a replacement by the end of the day. Some may ask, do you really need all those features? I say not yet. My home theatre is always changing and this remote can change with it. For example, I purchaced a remote control light switch not to long ago, and within minutes of installing it the remote was turning the lights on when I would pause a movie, in one button press. I plan on getting a remote controlled A/C unit for next summer, so I can walk in to a chilled room and sit down to watch a movie without having to remember to turn off the A/C or lights before sitting down. The macros are one of the best features of this product. I have one button that will turn evertything on and open the DVD tray so all I have to do is pick a movie and press play. And the timer feature can't be overlooked. I can use any remote conrtrolled device as an alarm clock. I can have the TV change chanels automatically to my favorite shows, even if I am watching something else and completely forget it's on.
In summary I couldn't live without this remote having anything more than just a TV and DVD player. And it's always nice to know it can learn any new functions that may not be stored within the codes given for new products, like the XBOX DVD functions or the remote contrlled light switch and A/C unit.
