Pros: Sony WEGA styling, easy setup. Attractively priced.
Cons: No S-Video out on the VCR side, this is a basic unit.

| cochise_20009's Full Review: Sony SLV-D500P DVD Player / VCR Combo |
A very nicely styled combination DVD/VCR, no problems to report.
It is what it is, no copy from DVD to VCR, no S-Video out on the VCR side, and no S-VHS native mode. This is a basic player, but it does have component video and progressive scan on the DVD side.
The remote is not as complex as you may have heard, it is definitely not ergonomic but it does the job.
The player (I wouldn't call it a deck) worked well out of the box and was easy to set up.
This unit isn't going to set the world on fire but it seems to be a decent combo player with a few style points that you won't see on competing brands. It seems a bit better to me than the Zenith, etc., but it is more expensive.
