Great for the price

I'm a person who cares about sound but has a small wallet. I don't see any reason to pay alot of money for speakers in my 12 x 15 apartment living room. I have had sony products in the past including the pc I'm using to write this review and have not been wronged by the company.
This center is the first speaker that I've upgraded as I move to a new ht speaker setup. It sounds abit fuller and much less distorted then my previous center. I wish I had the time to deal with the bestbuy return desk so that I could compare this speaker with it's competitors.
I compared the 2 centers using my yamaha htr-5730 which I also wrote a review for. It has a pretty solid wood construction with kevlar coated woofers. However I am suspicious if this is just a marketing gimmick that doesn't really improve performance. It looks modern having a grey cover and a black box design.
If you are on a tight budget I wouldn't be afraid to go on the internet to buy it. You can usually find it for around $80. BIC America would also be a good company to choose from although their center isn't as aesthetically pleasing as this center.
There are two things that I like about this center channel. The sound for the price and the look of the speaker.
Don't take my word for how nice this speaker sounds, the best way to find out is to try it out at home using your own receiver.
Other "bargain" brands to consider would be athena entry level speakers and BIC America. Both are a little pricier then sony but are still well priced.
In conclusion, you can't go wrong with this center channel if you have a small living room and a smaller wallet.
