SONY Baloney!
Written: Jun 02 '05
I bought this unit from Circuit City (about $139) based on what the sales clerk told me, even though I had read the reviews. I have a Sony VCR that I bough 6 years ago and that worked GREAT. But this unit was a DUD. The first DVD I watched was terrible. I had to adjust the color because everything was too dark. And then halfway through the disk, it locked up. Even though it was only for a few seconds, it was not what I had expected. I mean ... this was a SONY product right? These things didn't happen with my el-cheap-o DVD player (which cost less than $30). Then it happened again with the second disk. And the third, and the fourth and the fifth ... In all 9 out of 10 DVDs had the same problem. I also had a problem with lock up while viewing a CD of pictures I had made. When I tried the VCR player, the picture looked washed out and grainy (both prerecorded and home recorded). So I took it back and got another unit - an Allegro/Zenith. So far so good. So long SONY. It was nice knowing ya!
