This computer was a great desktop replacement. I had no problems with any aspect of the computer - the hard drive managed to fail, but that's simply bad luck. I will be buying a replacement drive.
The screen is brilliant and large - the machine is great for playing DVD's. Just for fun, I upgraded my memory to 1GB when I bought it, and it's zooming fast. It didn't pause to think about anything, and I usually have virtually every application running with 20 internet browsers running with research, chats and games.
All in all, I am very pleased with it. It is important to note that this laptop isn't really very mobile, though. It servers as a great desktop replacement - which is why I bought it. It is a bit hunky for a laptop - and it isn't one you'd take with you on the go. But, for somebody like me who moves every several months, the laptop sure beats having to buy a desktop and move all that!
I concede the fan is a bit noisy - but I think the other review exaggerated it a bit. The new Vaio's make less noise.
In terms of compatibility, I had no problems attaching anything to it - wireless network cards, Bluetooth USB devices, cameras of various types and brands, external hard drives - multiple at the same time(USB2.0 is really great!), printers (Leximark - which are known to be problematic - had no probs).
I was satisfied with it enough that I am replacing the hard drive - selling the old one and bought a brand new Sony Vaio. I am just addicted to the latest and greatest technologies :-).
