| dustinp's Full Review: IBM Creative SoundBlaster Live! |
Just last year I bought my brand new Dell computer, fully equipped with what I have to say is the best sound card I've ever heard. The sound blaster live card makes everything come to life, this includes: gaming, music, and can even function as a surround sound system for your home theater if you have the right adapters.
I'm a big fan of online gaming, and games such as half-life and unreal tournament aren't nearly as lifelike as when you play on a system that has the SBLive card. Piercing gunshot sounds penetrate your ears as if a war's actually going on right in front of you... you hear everything, even the most subtle ambient sounds imaginable.
It's new technology allows it to be compatible with EAX games, which makes it utilize specialized features in order to increases game playability and fun. There is also specialized software for the card, which allows you to make use of several sound features so that you can tweak the card just to your personal preference. Its an awesome advantage over other sound card software packages and, it enables you to get the most out of your card....
I've also been able to connect another pair of speakers into the extra jacks provided on the sound card, to give me 2 pair of midrange speakers and a subwoofer to add to my listening experience. All of this combined with the right input into the microphone jack will give you a home entertainment system, as you'll be able to watch television and play video games while listening through your computer speakers. This is especially benefiting if you have a shelf stereo system you'd like to hook up to your soundcard, and then it makes use of it's speakers to give you better sound.
