I bought a new phone. Unfortunately, the phone was at one end of the room, and the telephone jack at the other end of the room. I needed a long telephone cord. That’s why I purchased the Southwestern Bell 25’ Telephone Cord – model # S60681.


Description

The telephone cord comes coiled and wrapped with a plastic tie. It is packaged in a blisterpack with a clear plastic covering. The clear plastic is great since I could see this was a flat white telephone cord with a connector at each end. The package is clearly labeled: 㦅 Feet … Connects to Any Phone or Modem, To Any Phone Outlet.”

The back of the package says this is a 6 conductor that supports up to 3 separate lines. The only instructions state the cord allows connection of a phone or modem with modular jack to a wall outlet.

In case you are interested, the white color is not a bright white. It is a softer white. Also, the cord measures a 1/4” wide and feels substantial in the hand.


My Experiences

Unlike some packaging, this one is easy to open. No tools needed! Just pull the cord free, untwist the plastic twist-tie and you are ready to plug it in. I first plugged the end of the cord into my digital telephone.

The next part was a bit trickier. Since the phone was at one end of the room, and the jack on the opposite wall, I had to snake the cord along the baseboard, behind furniture, to the phone jack. The cats found this very entertaining.

Now that the phone was connected to the wall jack, I could use it. I was a bit concerned that using a long phone cord would deteriorate the clarity of a phone call. No problem, though. The calls are crystal clear with no breakup.

The quality of this phone cord is excellent. I am impressed, especially when I compare it to the other phone cords in the house. Those other phone cords came with the phones. I never thought they were cheap until I had this one. This cord is thicker, obviously excellent quality, and the connectors that snap into the phone and wall jack are better made. The phone connectors on the other cords faintly click or slide into place, while this cord snaps into position with an audible “Yup, all set here!”

I bought this telephone cord at K-Mart for $4.99.


Summary

This Southwestern Bell 25’ Telephone Cord is a quality product that I expect will last for years. The longer length perfectly accommodated the distance between the phone and wall jack. With this telephone cord installed, I’m talking pretty on my phone!
