I still don't know what these are intended for.

Pros: Stylish choice of colors, deep bass, easy set up, headphone jack in front.
Cons: Too many cords, not portable, sound quality, is it really a Bose product?
The Bottom Line: Try something else. There is nothing that makes these speakers stand out from the rest. Don't let the Bose name fool you, but still give these a look.

| gpgardner's Full Review: Bose MediaMate® 2 Speakers |
I bought these speakers to compliment my new Dell Laptop. I usually use headphones for computer use, but sometimes, such as for DVD movies, I like to use speakers. I listened to these in the Bose store, and they sounded good. I decided to get them, and now am not sure it was the greatest choice. I don't really use them much, I find the sound quality is not that great, certainly not better than my stereo headphones and they are bulky, so it is hard to take them with my laptop if I want a portable stereo.
I expected much better from a fine company such as Bose. They are of high quality and they are easy to set up, yet there are four different cords coming out of the back of the main speaker; a little excessive for a simple computer speaker. For the bulk and sound quality (and the price) it would have been wiser to get other speakers with a subwoofer and better sound quality (although these do provide excellent bass even for rap music and movies). I still see no reason why Bose made these speakers. It is like Porsche suddenly choosing to make an economical passenger car - good for the average consumer and sure to make them money, but a bit out of place in their product line. Bose can do better, and so can you by looking elsewhere.
