This Boston BA 735 sound system came with my Gateway Performance computer. This multimedia sound system was fairly easy to hook up. You have one cable for the back of your computer and also a power cord that goes behind the sub woofer. The two 2.1 mini speakers have cables that need to be connected as well, the one speaker that has the volume controls also has a coupling in the back for the other 2.1 speaker. The main 2.1 speaker also has the treble and a bass control knob for the mini speakers.
The Boston BA 735 sub woofer has 3 jack hook ups in the back. One is for A/C current, the second is for the computer hook up and the third is the digital cord hook up between the sub woofer and the 2.1 speakers. This sub woofer also has a hook up for analog but no cord came with it. Finally the last knob in the back of this sub woofer is the volume bass control for this unit. This sub woofer can really pack in the power if you like it that way.
The feet on the 2.1 speakers could of been made better. The 2.1 speaker with all the cords makes it harder to put the speaker feet on, and a couple times a year if you like jamming to your music the feet might come off from too much vibrations.
Adjusting the treble in your 2.1 speakers and the bass from your sub woofer to your taste will be easy. I do not have a lot of experience with different types of computer speakers, but the clarity and performance of this speaker system is great. I did have to move the sub woofer from my desk because the air pumps from the bass kept blowing in my face.
Working with my Windows Multimedia Program, I can get into where the equalizer is and make each song sound totally unbelievable. The digital sound of this system makes your room sound like a concert hall. Live music sounds great with this system also. The speakers bring out every note that the DVD catches. Even analog CD's sound great, like Chicago Live at Carnegie Hall makes you feel like your in the front row.
The only bad thing I can say about this system is the sub woofer does not have any feet. It is flat on the bottom and if you put it on a wood surface it might move on you, depending on how much bass you are blasting. Beside that this Boston BA 735 Multimedia System is great for your computer if you play a lot of music.
The sub woofer weighs about five pounds while the 2.1 speakers weigh in at about two and a half pounds each. The cord between the two 2.1 speakers is only 6 feet long while and is the same length between the 2.1 speakers and sub woofer. This limits your space.
Overall you will get great quality of music from this system. I've had my system for 5 years now and besides the feet on the 2.1 speakers I have no complaints.
